Tottenham Captain Cristian Romero Ruled Out for Rest of Season With Knee Injury
FOOTBALLSPORT

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.
The 27-year-old Argentina international was forced off during Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light following a collision with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
Romero appeared visibly distressed as he limped off the pitch, raising immediate concerns about the severity of the injury, particularly as Tottenham continue their battle to avoid relegation.
Medical tests have now confirmed that the defender sustained a high-grade partial tear of his medial cruciate ligament (MCL), an injury expected to keep him sidelined for up to eight weeks.
The development rules Romero out of Tottenham’s remaining fixtures this season and represents a significant blow to the team’s defensive setup at a crucial stage of the campaign.
The injury also puts his involvement with the Argentina national football team at risk ahead of this summer’s World Cup, with his availability now uncertain.
