Ahead of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference, Head of Media and Management at One Sport TV, Kenneth Ujah, has stated that the Maktown Flyers are set to raise the standards of competition, in an interview with basketball journalist Kenny Bamidele.

Ujah, who shared his assessment after an inside look at the team’s training camp, expressed strong confidence in the Nigerian champions’ readiness for their continental debut.

“And after getting an inside look at the Maktown Flyers’ training camp, one thing is clear: this group isn’t just preparing to compete in the BAL Sahara Conference… they’re positioning to disrupt it,” he said.

He further emphasized the structure and discipline within the team, noting that their cohesion and intensity stand out even at this stage of preparation.

“There’s structure in their tempo, intent in every possession, and a level of cohesion you don’t typically see this early. You can tell this is a team that understands the assignment because the Sahara Conference doesn’t forgive inconsistency,” Ujah added.

According to him, the Flyers are not entering the competition merely to participate, but to challenge expectations and elevate the level of play.

“If this camp is any indication, the Flyers aren’t arriving to measure themselves against the conference… they’re arriving to raise its standard,” he concluded.

The Maktown Flyers will make their BAL debut in the Sahara Conference on April 24, 2026, where they will compete against some of Africa’s strongest basketball clubs.
