Law enforcement authorities have identified Cole Tomas Allen as the man arrested following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C.

The 31-year-old suspect, who is from Torrance, California, was apprehended by security agents inside the Washington Hilton hotel after gunshots were reported during the high-profile event attended by journalists, government officials, and public figures.

According to officials, Allen allegedly expressed intentions to target members of the administration of Donald Trump. While authorities say the motive remains under investigation, preliminary findings suggest the suspect may have been aiming at senior government officials, potentially including the president.

Speaking in a televised interview, acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that investigators are examining multiple aspects of the incident, including reports that the suspect may have assembled his weapon within the hotel premises.
