Umar Sadiq brought an end to his seven-game goal drought on Tuesday night, scoring as Valencia CF played out a 1-1 draw with RCD Mallorca at the Estadi de Son Moix.

The Nigerian striker found the net in the second half to earn Valencia a point, marking his first goal since February 15 when he scored in a 2-0 victory over Levante. His drought had stretched across matches against Villarreal, Osasuna, Alavés, Real Oviedo, Sevilla, Celta Vigo and Elche.

Despite the dry spell, Sadiq had contributed assists in wins over Celta Vigo and Elche, underlining his continued involvement in Valencia’s attacking play.

The goal takes his tally to two in the league this season from 19 appearances across spells with Real Sociedad and Valencia, while his overall count stands at five, including three in the Copa del Rey.

Sadiq played the full 90 minutes and delivered an efficient display, scoring from an expected goals (xG) value of 0.48, with both of his shots on target. He also maintained a 75 per cent pass accuracy, completing 12 of 16 passes, and added one key pass in a performance that included 33 touches.

Mallorca had taken the lead shortly after the break through Samú Costa, having earlier threatened via Vedat Muriqi and Sergi Darder.

However, Valencia improved in the second half and drew level when Sadiq timed his run perfectly to convert a flick from Javi Guerra off a cross delivered by Luis Rioja.

Both sides pushed for a winner late on, but neither could find the decisive goal. The result leaves Valencia in 13th place, having secured just one win in their last five league outings.

Sadiq will now look to build on his return to scoring form when Valencia host Girona, with the chance to net in consecutive matches for the first time since March 2025.
