Police Arrest Suspect Over Fatal Accident That Killed ABSU Student in Abia

Authorities confirm one arrest and launch manhunt for others after a tragic road crash claimed the life of a university student in Uturu.

The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with a fatal road accident that led to the death of a student of Abia State University, identified as Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu and gained widespread attention after a video from the scene circulated online.

Confirming the development, Police Public Relations Officer Maureen Chioma Chinaka said the accident involved two motorcycles that collided head-on, throwing their passengers onto the road.

She explained that the victim was subsequently run over by an oncoming Mack truck, leading to her death at the scene.

According to the police, officers from the Motor Traffic Department responded promptly, evacuating the injured victims to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Chinaka added that the remains of the deceased have been released to her family following confirmation by a medical doctor, while the vehicles involved in the crash have been recovered and taken into police custody.

The police further disclosed that one suspect has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down two other individuals linked to the incident.

Authorities say investigations are continuing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
