Former National Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Olamide Odumosu, has completed his screening process to contest for the office of National President ahead of the organisation’s forthcoming election.

Odumosu described the exercise as engaging and insightful, noting that it offered him the opportunity to present his vision for student leadership while interacting with members of the screening committee.

“I successfully completed my screening to contest for the Office of the National President of NANS, and it was a great experience engaging with the committee,” he said.

The election, scheduled to hold next month in Abuja, is expected to bring together delegates from tertiary institutions across Nigeria. Stakeholders have continued to call for a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process as preparations intensify.

Campaigning under the slogan “Hope-Rebirth 2026,” Odumosu used the occasion to emphasise the need for integrity in the upcoming polls, warning against any form of malpractice that could undermine the credibility of the exercise.

He stressed that the legitimacy of student leadership depends on a fair process that reflects the genuine will of students across the country.

“I also used the opportunity to emphasise the importance of a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. There must be no room for any form of malpractice that could undermine the credibility of this election,” he stated.

Odumosu further called for a leadership culture anchored on accountability and ethical conduct, insisting that the future of the student body depends on values-driven representation.

“Our student leadership must be built on integrity, accountability, and the true will of the students,” he added.

The upcoming election is already generating interest within student political circles, with expectations high for a competitive but orderly transition of leadership within the national student body.
