Nigerian basketball player Samson Mashebinu has praised the growing impact of One Sport TV on the visibility of the domestic game, following an interaction with the network at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in Morocco.
Speaking to Kator Ujah of One Sport TV, the NBA Academy product, who now represents JCA Kings of Ivory Coast, expressed surprise at seeing the platform on ground at the continental competition.
Mashebinu, however, noted that he was already familiar with the network’s work, having followed coverage of the Nigerian basketball league through the platform.
He commended the consistency of the coverage and its role in increasing access to the local game, adding that such visibility is helping to reshape perceptions of Nigerian basketball.
According to him, platforms like One Sport TV are becoming increasingly important for players and the development of the sport, particularly in bridging the gap between local competitions and the international stage.
His comments highlight the growing recognition of media platforms in promoting African basketball, as the BAL continues to serve as a meeting point for talent across the continent.
