A 33-year-old man was rescued after jumping into Lagos Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge, with police confirming he is now safe and with family.

Tragedy was averted in Lagos on Tuesday after a 33-year-old man was rescued from the lagoon following an apparent suicide attempt from the Third Mainland Bridge.
The man, identified simply as Olu, reportedly parked his vehicle at the Yaba axis of the bridge before jumping into the water.
Swift Rescue Effort
He was quickly spotted, prompting the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer in Yaba, CSP Adegbemi Isiaka, who mobilised a nearby fisherman to assist in the rescue.
The victim was successfully pulled from the water and immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
Incident Linked to Financial Loss
Sources revealed that the man, said to be a resident of Ibadan, had travelled to Lagos on the day of the incident.
He was reportedly distressed after suffering significant losses from a cryptocurrency investment, which may have influenced his actions.
Police Confirmation
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident.
She disclosed that the victim has since been treated and discharged from the hospital, and was released to his family members who arrived from Ibadan.
According to the police, the family has assured authorities that he will receive further care and support.
