Anthony Joshua targets a July return before a potential Tyson Fury showdown in November, as promoter Eddie Hearn confirms ongoing negotiations.

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is aiming to return to the ring in July before a potential blockbuster clash with Tyson Fury later in 2026, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn revealed that November is the proposed timeframe for the long-anticipated Joshua vs. Fury fight, although negotiations are still ongoing.
Talks Ongoing for Mega Fight
Discussions are currently being held with Saudi boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh over a potential two-fight deal, which would see Joshua return in the summer before facing Fury.
“My instructions from AJ is to make the fight,” Hearn said, adding that while contracts have been exchanged, several details are still being worked out.
“There are still things to negotiate—like who he fights in July, when and where—but nothing I would call major sticking points.”
Fury Call-Out and Joshua’s Response
Fury recently called out Joshua following his victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, claiming he had already signed for the fight.
However, Joshua has remained cautious, stating he will not commit until all contractual terms are finalised.
Tune-Up Fight Expected
Hearn confirmed that Joshua is likely to face an opponent of a similar level to Makhmudov in July as a warm-up ahead of the potential Fury showdown.
The decision comes after a period of inactivity for Joshua, who has fought just twice in the past 18 months.
Comeback After Setbacks
Joshua is also recovering from a car accident in December, in which he sustained minor injuries. He is expected to resume full training within weeks.
The planned return will allow him regain momentum before stepping into what could be one of the biggest heavyweight fights in recent years.
